HOUSTON -- Dwight Howard had 22 points and 14 rebounds, and Jeremy Lin came off the bench to score 21 points and help the Houston Rockets beat the Portland Trail Blazers 108-98 on Wednesday night to avoid elimination. Pharoh Cooper Jersey . The Trail Blazers lead the first-round series 3-2 entering Game 6 on Friday in Portland. A basket by Damian Lillard got the Trail Blazers within two points before James Harden stepped back and swished a 3-pointer to make it 103-98 with about three minutes left. The shot brought the crowd, which was clad almost completely in red shirts emblazoned with the words "Clutch City" on them, to its feet. That started an 8-0 Houston run to close it out. Harden finished with 17 points and seven assists. Houston finally slowed down LaMarcus Aldridge, limiting him to eight points, after he averaged 35.3 points in the first four games. Wesley Matthews led the Blazers with 27 points and Lillard added 26. Lin got extended minutes on Wednesday night with Pat Beverley dealing with an illness. Beverley had five points in 21 minutes. The Rockets led by as many as 17 points in the first half. Portland cut it to one point three times in the fourth quarter, but never went back on top. Terrence Jones added a basket for Houston after the big 3 by Harden before Howard got after Aldridge on the other end. He blocked his short jump shot, sending it out of bounds. Portland got the ball back and Aldridge got the ball again, but he badly missed a shot with Howard in his face as the shot clock expired, leaving Aldridge yelling for a foul. The Rockets were up by nine early in the fourth quarter after four quick points from Lin before Portland used an 8-0 run, with the first four points from Nicolas Batum, to cut the lead to 91-90 with 7:39 remaining. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Matthews cut Houstons lead to 62-58 early in the third quarter. He added 12 more points in the period to finish with 18 of Portlands 29 points. Howard and Lin carried the Rockets in the third, combining for 18 points. Howard had 10 and Lin scored the rest, including a long two as the shot clock expired with Lillard right in his face. Matthews, who was 4 for 5 from long range in the third, made two 3-pointers within 20 seconds late in the quarter to cut Houstons lead to two points. But Lin finished off the quarter with a three-point play to make it 82-77 entering the fourth. Robin Lopez received a flagrant-1 foul when he fouled Howard in the air while fighting for a rebound and pulled him to the ground by the shoulders on the way down. Howard made one of two free throws to stretch Houstons lead to 74-68 with three minutes left in the quarter. Houston led by three after one and used an 11-0 run to start the second quarter and go up 41-27. Jones scored the first four points in that span and rookie Troy Daniels capped it with a 3-pointer. The Trail Blazers had six turnovers while the Rockets built the lead and didnt score until a pair of free throws by Aldridge with about nine minutes left until halftime. Howard picked up his third foul soon after that and went to the bench. Portland scored the next five points to get within seven but the Rockets used a 10-0 spurt to push the lead to 51-34. Lin had a reverse layup and a 3-pointer during that run. The Trail Blazers ended the first half with a 14-5 run, with eight points from Lillard, to cut the lead to 56-48 at halftime. Aldridge had just six points at halftime after sitting out about half of the first quarter after getting his second foul. NOTES: The Trail Blazers wore patches on their jerseys to honour Hall of Famer Jack Ramsay, who died on Monday at 89. Ramsay coached the team to an NBA title in 1977. The plaid patch has the words "Dr. Jack" and a "77" to honour the championship team. The Blazers will wear the patch for the remainder of the post-season. ... Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon watched from a courtside seat. ... Chandler Parsons added 20 points for Houston. Todd Gurley II Jersey . Atletico Madrid made it three wins from three thanks to a double from in-form striker Diego Costa in a 3-0 victory at Austria Vienna, leaving the Spanish side on the brink of the last 16 already to continue its brilliant start to the season. Alec Ogletree Jersey . Spains victory rendered Frances 3-0 win against Finland meaningless as Spain needed just one point to secure passage to Brazil. Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema scored either side of Joona Toivios own-goal as France advanced to the playoff among the eight best second-place finishers.BERLIN - With the international break over and the Bundesliga back in action, defending champion Bayern Munich is looking over its shoulder at Wolfsburg.Bayern leads the league after 11 matches and will next face Hoffenheim on Saturday, while Wolfsburg is enjoying an eight-game winning streak across all competitions ahead of its visit to Schalke. At the other end of the table, Borussia Dortmund hopes it has turned things around after completing its worst start to the league. Dortmund next faces Paderborn on Saturday. Also, the stakes will be high on Sunday in the northern derby between struggling rivals Hamburger SV and Werder Bremen. Here are some things to know ahead of this weekends matches:___BAYERN BLOWIts been a mixed week for Bayern. The club was dealt a blow with captain Philip Lahm ruled out for up to three months after breaking his right ankle, while director of sport Matthias Sammers contract was extended until 2018.The club also confirmed former president Uli Hoeness will return in some form if he gains day parole from his 3 1/2-year prison term for tax evasion.Lahms loss is a big setback for coach Pep Guardiola, who previously descrembed the versatile defender as the most intelligent player he has trained. Whether in midfield or at the back, Lahm could be relied upon to read the game, snuff out chances, complete his passes and lead the side with his calm demeanour.Bayern was already missing Javi Martinez, David Alaba, Thiago Alcantara, Holger Badstuber, Claudio Pizarro and backup goalkeepers Tom Starke and Pepe Reina.Bastian Schweinsteigers return to training is a timely one, though Guardiola will be thinking of other alternatives for Saturdays visit of Hoffenheim.___WOLFSBURG WINNINGWolfsburgs 2-0 win over Hamburg was the clubs sixth in a row in the Bundesliga, keeping the side four points off Bayerns pace.Only Bayern has scored more goals, 27 compared to 22, while Wolfsburgs defence is the third best in the league.Kevin de Bruyne is emerging as the sides key player. The Belgian has set up nine goals already - more than any other in the Bundesliga - while his commitment and workrate are helping in other ways, too.The squad is in good shape ahead of Saturdays game at Schalke. Ricardo Rodriguez, Marcel Schaefer and Daniel Caligiuri have all shaken off knocks, while Christian Traeschs recovery from flu gives Dieter Hecking a full squad to choose from. Samson Ebukam Jersey. ___SCHALKE STUTTERINGFormer Chelsea coach Roberto di Matteo was supposed to turn Schalkes season around after taking over from Jens Keller. But there has been no discernible improvement under the Swiss-Italian, who has claimed six points from four Bundesliga games.Schalke is mid-table, five points above last-place Stuttgart and 13 behind Bayern. So far, there hasnt been much evidence that the all-important Champions League qualification places are within reach. We have to start upping our performances now and being successful on a consistent basis, Schalke board chairman Clemens Toennies told Kicker magazine. Then we can still achieve our aims.___DORTMUND DESPERATEDortmund needs another win against promoted Paderborn on Saturday to get away from the relegation zone. The 2011 and 2012 champions were in last place before their deserved but somewhat fortuitous 1-0 victory over previously unbeaten Borussia Moenchengladbach. While injuries have played their part, defensive lapses and a lack of efficiency up front have cost Dortmund dearly, underlining the importance of departed striker Robert Lewandowski.Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp hopes Marco Reus will have recovered from the ankle injury he sustained against Gladbach, while both Jakub Blaszczykowski and Nuri Sahin played in a practice match on Tuesday as they make their ways back from serious knee injuries.___NORTHERN NERVESTraditional rivals Hamburg and Bremen have clashed more often than any other sides in the Bundesliga. Sundays derby in Hamburg will be the 101st league meeting and 146th overall, with Bremen boasting 55 victories to Hamburgs 50.But their glory days seem a long time ago. Its been 10 years since Bremen won the double, while Hamburgs last league title was 31 years ago. Both sides are fighting relegation this season after firing their coaches. Bremen has momentum under new coach Viktor Skripnik with two wins from two games, while Hamburg is a point behind with the worst attack in the league (four goals scored in 11 games). Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
